DAMP weather looks set to plague Easter weekend in Dundee.
While Dundonians have been basking in some early spring sunshine this week, forecasters have tipped a bleak outlook for the majority of the Easter break.
This will be in stark contrast to last year when temperatures soared to 20C in the city.
Met Office spokeswoman Lindsey Mears said: “I’m afraid it is not looking too good for Dundee.
“The best day will certainly be Good Friday itself with temperatures of 10C.
“Saturday will see periods of light rain and a maximum temperature of 8C but it will largely be grey skies above. Over Saturday night we will see lows of 3C.
“There is no threat of frost, but it will feel cold. Sunday will generally feel very similar to Saturday, with grey skies and temperatures averaging 8C.
“We will continue to see light periods of rain over Easter Sunday.
“Monday will feel slightly breezier, so although it is still an average of 8C, it may feel colder with that wind factor.
“We will again unfortunately see periods of light showers but there may be some sunshine to break up these showers.
“The recent weather is not particularly that uncommon for this time of year. We’ve had a good period of prolonged sunshine and this has been brought by a blocking high from Scandinavia.
“The new weather front is coming via the Atlantic, which will unfortunately bring the shift in the weather system.”
With large crowds expected at Camperdown Park on Sunday for the Easter fun day event, the council is hoping the rain will not
dampen the spirits of those who attend.
A Dundee City Council spokesman said: “The council is keeping a close watch on the weather forecast and factors like this are carefully considered in our planning.
“We’d ask that people are prepared appropriately to attend the Easter Fun Day, which will have a packed programme of events for all the family.”
Activities will be available between noon and 4pm, including street theatre, street soccer and a duck display.
