A full-scale emergency rescue was launched late last night after a woman got into difficulties in the water off Broughty Ferry beach.
Broughty Ferry inshore lifeboat was launched and pulled the woman to safety from the water just before 11pm.
She was taken to the shore where she was transferred to a waiting ambulance which took her to hospital. Her condition is not known. Carnoustie Coastguard attended the incident along with four fire engines and a specialist unit, 21 fire officers, an ambulance and police officers.
