The cost of staff parking permits for Ninewells Hospital in Dundee is to be increased.
Vinci Park made the announcement as the firm confirmed it will undergo a name change and will be known as Indigo from November 5.
The 2.5% rise means the annual cost of a staff permit will come to £408.36.
However, parking prices for customers will remain frozen.
The executive director of the Scottish Patients Association, Dr Jean Turner, criticised the fees and said: “It’s actually a business that is profiting off the misfortune of people. They are the loved ones of sick people.
“It seems very generous not to raise fees for visitors and patients at a time when everyone’s trying to make ends meet.
“But it’s a disgrace that they are allowed to charge people at all.”
Dr Turner added the NHS should benefit financially rather than a private company.
Vinci Park has a 30-year agreement to operate the car parks until 2028 and Ninewells remains one of only three hospitals in the country to charge for parking.
West End Councillor Fraser Macpherson said: “I am concerned they are planning to increase the staff permits — you shouldn’t be charged for the privilege of going to work.
“And the consequence of raised fees is an overspill of parking to the surrounding area.”
A spokesman for Vinci Park UK said: “We can confirm there are no plans to increase the parking fees paid by visitors and patients at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. Staff parking permits will be increased by 2.5% on November 1.
“This increase is in line with a formula that balances the UK RPI rate with frequency of payment.”
A spokeswoman for NHS Tayside said the contract with Vinci Park UK Ltd began in 1998 and will conclude in 2028. She added: “The Ninewells Hospital car parking arrangement is operated under PFI conditions.”
