A MAN and a woman have been charged after police swooped on a Dundee multi in a drugs raid.

Two addresses at Landsdowne Court, in the Dryburgh area of the city, were targeted by police.

Eyewitnesses described seeing 18 police officers and sniffer dogs around the multi-storey flats while the operation took place.

One witness, who did not want to be named, said that he was “shocked” to see the scene unfold in front of him.

He said: “There were four police units outside the multi — a riot van and a dog unit were there.

“I counted them and there were a total of 18 police officers — it was crazy to see them all there at the same time.

“They all went into the multi and then some of them came out and were questioning a man. Then I saw a woman being brought out by two female police officers.

“That’s when a couple of cars left, but the dog unit and the van stayed for about an hour after that.

“They didn’t have their lights on or anything like that — they just came in droves.

“It looked like it had been planned out beforehand.

“Usually when I’ve seen the police doing stuff like that it has been early in the morning but this was just after midday.

“I was shocked to see it all happening.”

Darren Reilly, 30, and Diane McCabe, 49, both of Lansdowne Court, Lansdowne Gardens, appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court on Friday accused of drug offences.

Reilly denies being concerned in the supply of heroin, a class A drug, and being concerned in the supply of diazepam, a class C drug, at his home address.

He also denied a third charge of having heroin, at McCabe’s home address.

McCabe denies a charge of having cannabis, a class B drug, at her home address on the same date.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We attended two addresses within Lansdowne Court at 12.30pm on Thursday April 14.

“Officers executed a controlled drugs search.”

Reilly and McCabe’s trial begins on July 21 with an intermediate diet on July 5.
