A man who falsely told police the IRA had strapped a bomb to him has been jailed.
Alexander Murdoch, 33, of Main Street, was sentenced at Dundee Sheriff Court.
Murdoch admitted that on Thursday March 24 at his home address, he communicated by telephone information to another person with the intent of inducing in them a false belief that a bomb or another thing liable to explode or ignite was present at Main Street.
The court heard that Murdoch phoned police and said he did not want to do it but the IRA had strapped a bomb to him.
The sheriff sentenced Murdoch to 13 months behind bars.
