OoR Wullie is creating quite a stir in Dundee just over a week since the Bucket Trail was launched.
The Tele has been inundated with your amazing #oorselfies — we’ve received well over 100 in the past few days alone.
The public have been clambering for photographs with the iconic comic character.
And at Balgay Hill in particular, he seems to be attracting quite a fanbase.
Local residents and dog walkers who regularly use the public footpath up the hill have noticed hundreds more people in the area as they seek out the sci-fi-themed design.
It is hoped those hunting Oor Wullie will bring more visitors to the Mills Observatory when it opens this weekend.
Local resident Alan Clark said he thought the extra visitors to the park was brilliant.
He said: “This is a fantastic campaign by the Archie Foundation and everyone around here is supporting it.
“We have noticed a huge increase in the number of people heading up the hill.”
Dundee couple Lorraine and Graeme McLean are regular dog walkers at Balgay Hill but they are also doing the Oor Wullie Bucket Trail.
Lorraine said: “We have seen eight so far, including the one here, and plan to see more during our holidays.
“We think the trail is a great thing for a great cause.”
Patrick Smith, 55, from Charleston, walks his two springer spaniels Milly and Murray at Balgay most days.
He said: “The Oor Wullie Bucket Trail is fantastic for Dundee and it’s fantastic that it is attracting so many people.”
Iain Strachan, 42, and his son James, nine, from Trottick are hoping to see most of the sculptures this summer, with Iain adding: “We’ve been round a few so far, including the one at Balgay Hill, and plan to see more.”
A spokesman for Leisure & Culture Dundee said: “Mills Observatory is open at selected times over the summer and we are looking forward to welcoming lots of families this weekend at our free Saturday Stars event between 1pm and 3pm.
“We’re expecting a good turnout and hope that Oor Wullie fans will take the chance of combining their visit to join in the fun as well.”
The Oor Wullie Bucket Trail will run for 10 weeks and sees 55 sculptures of all shapes, sizes and designs across Dundee and the surrounding area.
At the end, the sculptures will be auctioned off to raise money for the Archie Foundation’s Tayside Children’s Hospital Appeal.
Remember we want to see all your selfies with the wee scamps! Send us your snaps by posting them directly to our Facebook and Twitter pages, or by using the hashtag #oorselfie.
We will pick the most eye-catching images and display them in the Evening Telegraph every Tuesday during the trail.
And, every week we will randomly circle one of these selfies to be the lucky recipient of a cheeky £50. Good luck!
