Police probe fire near primary school

Police in Dundee are appealing for information following a fire near to a city primary school.

Emergency services were called to the park off beside Barnhill Primary on Falkland Crescent yesterday at bout 5.30pm.

The fire was doused by firefighters using a bucket of water.

Officers are now looking to speak with anyone who may have information regarding how the fire started.

A statement from Police Scotland read: “Police Scotland is appealing for information after reports of a small fire in a park at Falkland Crescent, Dundee yesterday at around 5.30pm.”

“The fire was quickly extinguished by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and no-one was hurt and there was no damage.”

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to Falkland Crescent near to the primary school.

“One appliance from Balmossie station attended and the fire was put out using a bucket of water.”

Anyone with any information that may be useful to officers should contact 101, or speak to any police officer. Alternatively information can be passed anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
