Three German tourists were left injured after a series of alleged attacks by two people in Dundee city centre.

Ryan Ferrie, 20, from Dundee and Shaunie Louise Nelson, 21, from Montrose, were arrested and charged in connection with a disturbance on High Street, Murraygate and Cowgate at about 10.10pm on Saturday.

The pair appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court where they faced a series of allegations.

Nelson is accused of assaulting Tom Heinz by striking him on the head with her handbag or similar item and punching him on his head to his injury.

Ferrie is also accused of assaulting Mr Heinz by striking him on the body to his injury.

It’s alleged Nelson assaulted Sarah Wiessner by grabbing her by the hair and striking her with her knee.

Meanwhile, Ferrie is accused of assaulting Jan Partes by pinning him against a wall and repeatedly striking him on the face, to his injury.

The pair are also both accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, which was likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm, by shouting, swearing and acting aggressively towards a group of people.

Ferrie is further accused of, at Cowgate, resisting, obstructing or hindering a police officer — then in the execution of his duty — by resisting arrest and struggling with the officer on the ground.

Eyewitnesses in the area reported seeing police and an ambulance close to the Wellgate Shopping Centre around the time of the alleged attacks.

A police spokeswoman confirmed officers were called to deal with a disturbance.

She said: “Police Scotland can confirm a 20-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were charged in connection with a disturbance at Murraygate, Dundee, on 10.11pm on Saturday November 7.

“A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.”

Ferrie, of Woodlands Terrace, Dundee, and Nelson, of Glenclova Place, Montrose, both denied the charges against them during their court appearance.

A trial date was set for December 10 with an intermediate diet planned for December 2.
