Fire crews were called to tackle a car blaze in the early hours of the morning.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish and Fire Rescue Service said they were called out to Afton Way, near Morrisons, after reports of a vehicle crashing into a lamppost.
The car caught fire, with crews spending more than an hour extinguishing the blaze.
The burnt out vehicle was recovered from the scene at about 7.30am.
Police are now looking to track down a man in connection with the smash.
The spokeswoman said: “We received a call at 4.38am to Afton Way.
“One appliance from the Kingsway attended. Police Scotland also attended.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a jet to extinguish the fire.
“We were stood down at 5.42am.”
A police spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland received reports of a car on fire at Afton Way, Dundee at 4.40am.
“It is understood the car was involved in a road traffic incident where is struck a lamppost.
“Officers are keen to speak to a male, aged 18-20 years old wearing a white hooded top.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Tayside Division on 101.”
