A Broughty Ferry pub is flushed with pride after scooping an accolade for its tip-top toilets.
Jolly’s Hotel in Gray Street has been awarded a platinum star rating — the highest award possible — by inspectors from the Loo of the Year Awards.
Pub manager Lee Thelwell said he was “delighted” to receive the award. He added: “Staff ensure the toilets are in first-class condition at all times and it’s great that this has been recognised.”
The awards are intended to improve the standard of away-from-home loos across the UK. Inspectors make unannounced visits to hundreds of sites and grade toilets from bronze to gold.
The platinum rating is only given to the most exceptional examples based on criteria including decor and maintenance, cleanliness, accessibility and hand-washing and drying equipment.
Loo of the Year Awards managing director Mike Bone said: “The pub richly deserves its platinum award.”
