A dealer caught with more than £4,000 worth of drugs in his Dundee home is behind bars.
Shaun Meldrum, 25, had 356 ecstasy tablets and 36g of cannabis at his home in St Columba Gardens.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard police also found drug paraphernalia and equipment to grow cannabis when they carried out their raid.
Fiscal depute Eilidh Robertson said: “Police received a warrant to search the accused’s home and executed it.
“The accused was within the address and immediately told the officers ‘I only have ectos and weed in the cupboard’.
“Two bags of tablets were found in a kitchen cupboard, one containing 261 ecstasy tablets and the other containing 95 ecstasy tablets. Another bag, containing 36g of herbal cannabis, was also found in the kitchen.”
Police also seized a mobile phone, on which many messages relating to buying and selling cannabis were discovered.
The fiscal told the court the ecstasy tablets were worth £3,560, and the cannabis was valued between £360 and £540.
Meldrum admitted being concerned in the supply of ecstasy, a Class A drug, on December 8 last year at his home address.
And he admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis, a Class B drug, between September 1 and December 8 last year, again at his home address.
Sheriff Alastair Brown warned Meldrum that a significant custodial sentence was “almost inevitable”.
He deferred sentencing until December 6 for reports and Meldrum was remanded meantime.
nA DRUG courier was caught red-handed with a suitcase filled with four kilos of cannabis.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard Mark Hunter, 36, had been asked to deliver the Class B drug to an address in Dundee.
But Hunter, of Spencer Street, Clydebank, was stopped when police noticed the suitcase in his van and asked what was in it.
A total of 4kg of cannabis was recovered from his van, with a value of £16,000. If the quantity was divided into smaller deals it could be sold on for between £40,000 to £60,000.
Hunter admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis at Harris Terrace, Dundee, on January 23. Sentence was deferred until December 5.
