A 16-year-old went into a Dundee fast food restaurant drinking cider from a plastic bottle — then bit the manager on the chest.

Dundee Sheriff Court heard the teen, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was asked to leave McDonald’s on Longtown Road when staff saw him drinking from the bottle.

He then became aggressive and punched the restaurant manager on the head before biting him on the chest.

Fiscal depute Muhammad Sadiq told the court the incident took place around 11pm on August 11.

The fiscal said: “The accused was seen drinking alcohol from a plastic bottle.

“The manager, Paul Clark, asked him to leave and he became aggressive, and began to shout and swear.

“The accused eventually got up and began to walk out, followed by Mr Clark, who intended to make sure he left the premises. The accused then turned and punched Mr Clark on the head.

“Mr Clark put the accused into a head lock and asked him to calm down, and the accused bit him on his chest.”

Police were contacted and arrived shortly after.

The teen became aggressive towards police.

He attempted to bite PC Erin Gunn on the arm.

He was arrested and later cautioned and charged, to which he made no reply.

Solicitor Anika Jethwa, defending, said: “He is 17 years old and lives with his mother.

“He is unemployed and receives no benefits. At the time of the offence he was 16 and had been at a barbecue where he had consumed a huge amount of alcohol.

“He went to McDonald’s to purchase some food and took with him a bottle of cider from which he was drinking.

“He doesn’t remember the incident, or being placed in a head lock.”

Miss Jethwa added that the teen had previous convictions, all of which occurred when he had been drinking alcohol.

She said his mother was “concerned” about his alcohol intake.

The teenager, from Dundee, admitted assaulting Mr Clark by punching him on the head and thereafter biting him on the chest, to his injury, on August 11, at McDonald’s, Longtown Road.

He further admitted assaulting PC Gunn by attempting to bite her on the arm, on the same date and at the same location.

Sentence was deferred until December 10.
