Police have begun lifting the damaged car out of Dighty Burn, after it was confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen.
The area had earlier been sealed off while specialist divers checked that no one was in the car.
A police spokesperson confirmed that the car would be taken away to be examined.
Inquiries are ongoing regarding to the events leading up to the crash.
It is thought that the Vauxhall Corsa crashed at around 10.30pm last night.
