The Met Office has issued Dundee and Tayside with a severe weather warning for wind and rain.

The area is set to be battered by strong gusts of up to 70mph and 80mm of rain could fall.

The yellow ‘be prepared’ warning is in place throughout today until the early hours of Thursday and commuters are being warned there could be disruption to travel

Temperatures should remain mild for the time of year with highs of 11C predicted today. Tomorrow will feel a lot colder with temperatures of around 3 or 4C forecast.

There is some good news for those affected by flooding from Storm Desmond. This batch of rainfall should not cause further damage.

A statement issued by the Met Office read: “Further rainfall is expected to arrive across much of Scotland and northern England during Wednesday afternoon and evening. The rain will become persistent and heavy at times, mainly over high ground, before clearing to the southeast overnight Wednesday and into early Thursday.

“Please be aware that some low level disruption to transport is expected and that the strong winds combined with persistent rain will give difficult traveling conditions. The winds will ease a little during the evening but will remain strong or gale force.

“Rainfall totals and further flooding of the level seen over the weekend are not expected.”
