Firefighters tackle blaze at Dundee restaurant

Firefighters using breathing apparatus fought an electrical fire at a Dundee restaurant last night.

The fire broke out in the Antalia Restaurant in Whitehall Crescent around 6.20pm.

Police and fire services were alerted and three fire engines attended.

Whitehall Crescent was closed off by police while the fire brigade were in attendance, and local diversions were in place.

A Police Scotland spokesman said it is understood that the small  fire had been caused by an electrical fault.

A spokeswoman for Scottish Fire and Rescue confirmed that three fire engines and 11 officers attended the blaze.

“Two engines from  Blackness Road and one from the Kingsway station attended the fire.

“Officers using breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet dealt with the fire in around an hour and a half.”

She said she was not aware of any casualties.
