A WOMAN who was at the centre of a major police search after being reported missing in Dundee has died in hospital.
Public appeals were issued after Kerry Jones, 26, went missing in the city late on Sunday April 17.
A police helicopter was launched within hours to help with the search.
Locals spoke of the helicopter being in the sky above the city at about 2am on Monday April 18.
Officers confirmed later that day that Ms Jones had been traced in Dundee, but no further details were revealed at the time about her condition.
She was taken to hospital but died on Friday.
A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm a 26-year-old woman has sadly passed away. There are no suspicious circumstances and, as with all sudden deaths, a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
Kerry’s cousin, Katie Edgar, 23, today paid tribute to “the most beautiful person in the world”.
She said: “It was horrible when she was missing. We didn’t know what was going on.
“I’m just in total shock now. I can’t even describe how I am feeling.
“She was always happy. She was so generous and kind.
“She would have done anything for anyone and she was always there on the other end of the phone if you needed her.
“The family will never be the same and she will always be in our hearts.
“As long as we remember her she will be there.
“She was a beautiful angel and now she will be the family’s guardian angel.
“She will be happy she is with her dad again.”
People also took to social media to pay tribute to Kerry.
One message said that she was “the most precious diamond you could ever get, so young with her whole life ahead of her”.
The message added: “I try to think of your beautiful smile, it was so perfect and contagious … or how hard it was not too laugh when you laughed, you brought a lot of joy to a lot of people’s lives.
“She will always be in our hearts and never truly leave our sides. She is now the most beautiful precious angel in heaven.”
Another person wrote: “Wish we could do something to bring her back. Can’t stop thinking about her.”
