A young Dundee mum has told of how she was living in fear after she and her children were “targeted” by fireraisers twice in just over a week.

The woman, who didn’t want to be named for fear of reprisals, says she’s going to move out of her second-floor flat in Pitfour Street after the attacks, the latest of which happened in the early hours of Wednesday.

The Tele understands that petrol was used in the blaze, which started outside the front door of her home.

The flat’s occupant, who has four children, told the Tele: “We have got out with our lives twice — I’m not risking my children again in that flat.”

The woman claims that her flat was also targeted on November 20.

She and three of her children had to escape yesterday following the latest blaze.

The woman said that on the first occasion, she and her children were in bed when they were woken by a noise.

When she went to investigate, there was smoke and flames coming under the door of the flat.

She added: “After that, the fire brigade put a smoke alarm in for me, and thank goodness they did because I believe that probably saved our lives this time.”

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We are appealing for information following a fire in Pitfour Street.”
