A stretch of carriageway on the A90 north of Dundee, between the Tealing and Todhills junctions, is about to benefit from a £336,000 resurfacing project.

The investment by Transport Scotland will ensure that the northbound section of the stretch, which is used by around 13,600 vehicles every day, will continue to operate safely for years to come.

The two-week programme of overnight resurfacing improvements is set to get under way on Sunday, with the works scheduled to finish on Friday December 16.

A 10mph convoy system of traffic management will be put into operation each night from 7.30pm to 6.30am to keep roadworkers on the project, as well as motorists, safe.

Due to the nature of the resurfacing operations, a lane closure will be in operation 24 hours a day throughout the roadworks.

However, the overnight convoy system will be lifted outside normal working hours. There will also be no works taking place on Friday or Saturday nights to minimise disruption.

Commenting on the improvements, Andy Thompson of BEAR Scotland said: “These works will repair a number of cracks, potholes and other surfacing issues to help improve the general condition and safety of the road for motorists.

“The works have been scheduled overnight to help minimise delays but we would encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”

Up-to-date real-time journey planning information can be obtained by visiting the trafficscotland.org website or twitter@trafficscotland.

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
