The Tay Road Bridge has closed to high-sided vehicles and is only open to cars.
Winds over 70mph have forced bridge chiefs to make the move as a safety precaution. The central reservation, used by cyclists and pedestrians, has also been closed.
Should the gusts exceed 80mph, the bridge will then be closed to all traffic.
Dundee and Tayside has been placed under a severe weather warning with gales set to batter the area over night.

Heavy rain is also expected and the Met Office has warned there may be disruption to travel.
A tweet from the Tay Road Bridge Twitter account mistakenly stated the bridge was closed to all vehicles but that is not the case a spokesman confirmed to the Tele.
