An appeal has been made to find the family of a Dundee pensioner who died in a care home in England.
Margaret Ramsay Petrie was born on July 24 1931 in Dundee.
She passed away at Oxford House Nursing Home in Slough, at the age of 84, on January 31.
Slough Borough Council is keen to trace friends and family who may have been unaware of Margaret’s passing both in Slough and Dundee.
An appeal in a Slough newspaper caught the attention of former Dundonian, Jamie Hughes, 38, who previously lived in Aboyne Avenue, and left the city in 1988 at the age of 10.
The article included details of Margaret’s current address and former hometown.
Jamie, who now lives in Slough, began sharing the story on social media to friends and family in Dundee in an attempt to publicise the search.
She told the Tele: “Obviously the story caught my eye with me living in Slough and having previously lived in Dundee.
“I still have friends and family in Dundee so I started sharing the story to see if anyone knew of her.
“It got a terrific response, but unfortunately no one I knew had any information.”
Margaret Petrie lived on Concorde Way in Slough for nearly seven years between 2006 and 2013 and had two sons.
One of her sons was named Shaun Hurley, but his whereabouts are unknown.
Margaret’s first married name was Parker. She went onto marry for a second time taking the name of Hurley.
Margaret married for a third time changing her name to Aisha Ali.
Subsequently Aisha divorced and reverted back to her original forenames of Margaret Ramsay and her maiden name of Petrie.
Margaret’s funeral will take place at Slough Cemetery on March 9 at 2.15pm.
The Tele contacted The Slough and Royal Borough Observer newspaper which had alerted the readership in Slough of the story.
As of yet, no one had contacted them regarding contacts for Margaret’s family or friends.
Anyone who has any information about Margaret’s family, or who knew her personally, can contact Anna Kuras at Slough Council on 01753 875168.
