A TAYSIDE woman has said she feels unsafe in her own home after her property was ransacked by thieves.
Gill and Stuart Duncan, who have lived in Inchture for 28 years, are now increasing security at their property after it was targeted by intruders.
The couple, who live at Colonsay Gardens, had been helping a family member move house at the time.
Gill, 56, said: “I arrived back at the house by myself at around 8.45pm and noticed a massive hole through the conservatory door.
“With the house being in darkness, I thought someone could still be in there.
“I contacted the police and went back to get Stuart before we entered the house.
“When the police arrived, the sniffer dog picked up the scent and alerted officers that our neighbours had also had items stolen.
“The bedroom of our home was completely ransacked.
“All the drawers had been opened and items of clothing were all over the place.
“They didn’t take electronic goods or keys and they didn’t break any items within the house apart from the door.
“I am slightly freaked out being in the house alone just now.”
Husband Stuart, 59, owner of a recording studio, said he was ‘gobsmacked’ at what happened.
He said: “We were helping a family member move house and we came back and found the glass panned in.
“We’ve had some of money taken and some personal jewellery, rings and cuff links, but we don’t know the value of them yet.”
The couple said the property of another resident at nearby Meadowview Drive was also targeted on the same night.
Mac Roberts, councillor for Carse of Gowrie, said: “I’m obviously shocked these home break-ins are happening in the area.”
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We are appealing for information after thieves broke into houses in Colonsay Gardens and Meadowview Drive, Inchture on Wednesday, February 24.”
Anyone with information has been urged to call 101.
